The Minnesota Vikings are projected to make a major trade in the 2027 NFL Draft to address their cornerback uncertainty.
The Vikings signed James Pierre and selected Charles Demmings in the 2026 NFL Draft to add depth to their cornerback room.
They had a bare corner room before acquiring Pierre and Demmings, with only Byron Murphy Jr. and Isaiah Rodgers Sr. as notable players.
Murphy Jr., Rodgers Sr., and Pierre are all in their late 20s, and the shelf life of an NFL cornerback is not long.
The Vikings need to find a long-term solution to their cornerback position.
Josh Weil of PFSN projected the Vikings to trade up to 4th overall in the 2027 NFL Mock Draft to select Notre Dame CB Leonard Moore.
Moore is a scheme and alignment-diverse CB1 with All-Pro upside, and adding him would be a massive win for the Vikings.
The Vikings have never selected a cornerback in the top 10 before, with their earliest selection being Trae Waynes at 11th overall in 2015.
Matthew Coller thinks Demmings could win the "Mr. Mankato" award during camp and become a legitimate talent down the line.
Demmings has real talent and could bring a different level of man-to-man coverage to the Vikings.
The Vikings will face the Green Bay Packers on September 13, 2026, and will look to improve their cornerback position before then.
And with the uncertainty at cornerback, the Vikings will likely make some moves to address the position.
But for now, the focus is on the upcoming season and the potential trades that could happen in the future.
So the Vikings will have to wait and see how the 2027 NFL Draft plays out and if they can find their desired cornerback.
The Vikings' next game is vs Green Bay Packers on 2026-09-13.
